This magic Rotary Wheel, founded on universal peace, is loved by more than 1.200.000 Rotarians in approximately 32800 clubs and more than 200 countries and geographical areas. It has now passed into another dimension of communication to the world’s nations in an unusual manner.
The International Short Film Contest has been organized for the purpose of gathering creative people who will contribute to world peace through the art of film making.
The themes of the films that will be shown during the festival will be major issues that Rotary is involved with across the globe. These issues include: World Peace, famine, clean water usage, infant deaths, children and family dialogue, and street urchins. The intention is to convey these practices to masses of people using the visual capacities of communication.
This event is being organized with the support and generous contributions of all the rotary clubs in Turkey, and around the World, with Rotary District 2430 being the first in the long list.
The festival will commence every year during the week that embraces the 23rd of February; which is the foundation date of Rotary. The festival will take place between the 24 -27 of February.
Short films in Fiction and Animation with a total running time that does not exceed 15 minutes will compete in the contest. The contestants who want to have their films compete in the festival shall send a DVD - Pal copy of their films to the organization committee by the 31st of December, 2008.
Despite the fact that this festival is the first of its kind, it has already attracted international attention and it will be attended by a large audience.
